Chapter Five~ Nightmares and Daydreams My nightmare of the horrible, deep, secret the redheaded girl was hiding from me lifted from my mind, as soon as the Express approached a mile away from the mystery of Archivement. knowing I should be excited for a new chapter in my life instead of worrying; I started to recall all of the people I would meet at this new town in my head; the very ones who I learned about in Archivement Classes.
Lindsey; two-thousand-one and two-thousand-two; oldest Girl of the Year, tries to be helpful but always causes trouble. Kailey; O'three and O'four, a Californian surfer girl who saved the tidal pools. Marisol; two-thousand-five, a glorious dancer, who had to move away from her dreams. Jess; two-thousand-six, a girl visiting Belize with her archaeologist parents. Nicki; O'seven, a girl who raises a service dog. The past Girl of the Years, the ones that came before me. Breathing in a deep breath, I felt like I already met all of them with my knowledge. I was ready.
The train halted to a stop, making the checker game Gwen and Sonali were playing fly up, high into the air, shining like a firework, then dancing down to the floor like tiny snowflakes. The reheaded Mia girl suddenly got up from her seat, and dashed to the door of the car, leaving the rest of us to hang.
Sitting in my train seat, I shut my eyes, feeling the perfect mix of excitement and fear. Butterflies danced in my stomach faster and faster, somehow in the worst and best ways ever. This was it; I was officially done with American Girl. The bad feeling about this town, after leaving my head, came back in a better idea. This time, Archiveville wasn't a nightmare, but a daydream. Closing my eyes, I could almost already taste the sweet, cool vanilla ice cream that would be served to us every summer night; how we would chase fireflies in till dawn, and watch the stars shoot at each other from different directions, a different space show every night. It would be my dream world. What if it wasn't as bad as the Pleasantvillers rumored? I couldn't help to laugh at myself; that I would rather be doing interviews and work back at Pleasantville than releax, in retirement.
A tall blonde returned to the car, in place of the Mia girl, and after one look I who this is- Nicki Fleming. Nicki looked around at the three of us, and, having ran out of breath from the dash over to the car, sighed softy, "Welcome to our little town, called Archivementville." She didn't sound like she came from the paradise that was suddenly stuck in my head. Whatever, it was still retirement.
With her magical, breathless words, the notorious trio got up from the train seats and rushed outside, almost pushing Nicki out of the way. That's when I gasped, "What happened here?"
It was a daydream and a nightmare.

A thin beam of light shined in my bright azure eyes, turning everything yellow around the forests of The Archives. Huge, wide trees, with tops full of a healthy green color, sprouted from the moist, dirt ground. It was the perfect campground, I thought, feeling brilliantly dumb. How could Archiveville be a camp? I closed my eyes, half believing that when I would open them again, the sun-shined-filled campground would turn into a neat, practical town center. I lifted my eye lids, slow but steady. Still campground. Lanie would like this setting; but no one would like the lingering feeling at sat at this town for seven years. I looked around at my new fellow locals. Identifying Jess and Marisol, who sat on the dirt ground together, arms linked, was easy. Where were the others? In my head, I calculated who was missing from the scene. There was Nicki and Mia; of course, and Gwen and Sonali. The two girls had to be two-thousand-six and two-thousand-five, I knew, since I knew my Girl of the Years like a bird knew how to fly. That left Kailey and Lindsey. "Kailey Hopkins will be here tomorrow," Nicki said, as if she was reading my thoughts. She glanced at Mia, as if to say, should we tell them? Mia nodded. "She may not come back. She's in the forest."
