Ice Eights
Mia St.Clair felt the cool chill on her cheeks as she laced up her shiny, smooth ice stakes. There was nothing like going skating on a hot and humid summer day. It was her idea of how to cool off in this heat; relaxing and refreshing. Pulling on her gloves, Mia balanced her feet with the blade, making her way towards the rink, slowly opening the door out of the lobby and into the chilling room full of ice. A rush of cold air brushed past her face and into the lobby. Mia smiled. It was skate-time. Jumping onto the glowing ice, Mia started to dance back and forth in a calm and easy motion. She felt the coolness of the ice jump up into her head. She loved the smell of fresh ice. Outside, it felt like a dessert without any water in sight, but inside the rink, it was like the Arctic. Mia loved it. She started to draw an "8" on the ice, being careful not to fall. Figure Eights were a challenge for the skater, but she knew that she had to practice them to make them just right. Wind blowing towards her face, Mia skated around and around proudly. She did it! An eight shape sat on the ice, looking like it was stamped there. Mia made her way towards the rink door and made an exit, skating out of the spotlight. It was an perfect practice.
